About the channel
Great music, expertly reimagined for brass. Brass ensembles have existed since the late 16th century, but did not gain widespread recognition as legitimate chamber music until the mid 20th century. Since the 1950's, brass players have unabashedly borrowed music to buttress a limited repertoire. I discovered the joy of arranging works for my own groups in the late 70's and since then have arranged well over 400 works for brass quintet, brass septet, 11 piece brass ensemble and, more recently, transcriptions of orchestral works for large brass ensemble (15+ players). Since 1986, Boulder Brass Publications have been performed and recorded by some of the world's great brass ensembles beginning with the Summit Brass (Toccata & Fugue & A Summit Brass Night), the Canadian Brass (Bach & Legends), Burning River Brass (Of Knights and Castles & Russian Carnival), Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra
