About the channel

Welcome to the lastcathar channel. Here you will find a wide range of education-oriented material, all created by me to enhance my classes and to build real understanding, not just "instruction" but video experiences for my students. Some of the videos are records of our extensive field trips. Also we make films in class as part of learning activities. These films are written and performed by the students...a pure joy to watch. I believe that filmmaking is the heart of modern communication. It is capable of so much more than the old traditional essay format, and so my composition classes, when I taught college, were paperless. We built websites and made movies, and students learned something not just useful but enjoyable...rather than being bored to tears doing the same old stuff year after year.
