About the channel

At the age of 40, I learned about the Appalachian Trail when I watched a YouTube video by Will Wood whose trail name is Red Beard. I bought the 2014 AT Guide book and followed along page by page with his thru hike. That year, I also watched Dixie from Homemade Wanderlust do her AT thru hike. I was hooked! In the beginning, I had no one to go with. So, I finally just did a section by myself. If I hated it, then at least I would know and could stop researching. But, I absolutely loved it! Since then, I've read books, watched thousands of videos and asked for gear every Christmas and birthday. Each year I choose 3-4 thru hikers and follow along with their vlogs. By now, I've memorized sections of trail that I've never even been to. I do several section hikes a year and have made a lot of friends on trail. The goal of my channel is to take you along on these trips, providing tips and details about hiking and backpacking.
