From 1980 she appeared at all important world athletics events, winning a total of 34 medals (including 14 world championship medals). In 1980-2004, she competed in 7 consecutive Summer Olympics, winning 9 medals (3 silver and 6 bronze). During the Games, she participated in a total of 53 heats (including eliminations, semi-finals and 14 finals). She won 25 of them but never won a gold medal. During the Olympic Games in Sydney, at the age of 40 and 5 months, she won the silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay (becoming the oldest Olympic medalist among athletes). She won 73 consecutive heats In 2010, she set the world record for veterans over 50, running the distance of 100 meters 11.67 +0.9
