Dedicated to the music of the great jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Miles Davis (1926-1991). Miles was at the forefront of American music during six decades from bebop in the 1940s, through cool jazz, hard bop, orchestral jazz, modal jazz, avant garde, jazz rock, fusion, to hip hop. He led some of the greatest bands of all time, working with John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin, Bill Evans, Sonny Rollins, Marcus Miller, Horace Silver, Chick Corea, John Scofield, Keith Jarrett, Wayne Shorter, Joe Zawinul, Kenny Garrett, Cannonball Adderley, Jackie McLean, Hank Mobley, Sonny Stitt, Charlie Parker, Gil Evans, Mtume, Tony Williams, Ron Carter, Philly Joe Jones, Jimmy Cobb, Al Foster, Pete Cosey, Reggie Lucas, Michael Henderson, Daryl Jones, Marilyn Mazur, Robben Ford, and many others.
