About the channel
Welcome to The Hobby Trap. Modern hobbies are no longer about the activity; they are about buying things to pretend you are interesting. You aren't buying a $3,000 camera to take photos—you're buying the illusion of being a 'creative.' You aren't spending $80k on an Overlanding truck to explore—you're cosplaying a survivalist for Instagram clout. This channel is a brutally honest video essay series dissecting consumer psychology, marketing manipulation, and the delusion of modern consumerism. We use expensive hobbies (Tech, EDC, Golf, Coffee) as Trojan horses to expose the clinical flaws—like Gear Acquisition Syndrome, The Sunk Cost Fallacy, and Status Signaling—that trick grown adults into substituting gear for a real personality. If you are exhausted by toxic positivity, fake influencer reviews, and the endless treadmill of buying things to fix your insecurities, you are in the right place. We don't review the products. We review the people who buy them.
