About the channel

Thirty years of surfing evolution, all in one channel. In 1992, high school senior Taylor Steele released his VHS surf movie, MOMENTUM, featuring an up and coming young crew of professional surfers which included Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Shane Dorian, Taylor Knox, Kalani Robb and more. Slater would go on to become 11-time world champ. Machado, the king of style. Dorian, a big-wave legend. On and on goes the list of accomplishments. The surfers defined by Steele's films (and vice versa), marked the cutting edge of performance surfing. THE MOMENTUM FILES channel features iconic sections, unreleased edits, behind the scenes interviews and un-released footage from Steele's more than 30 movies. The videos are released daily and in chronological order, starting with the early 90s VHS movies and evolving to better cameras, bigger budgets, epic travel and high concept experiments... but always the focus is on the leading edge of surfing.
