Valentin Kovalev and Aiwen Zhang began their journey together at the Paris Conservatory, where they were the only 2 saxophonists admitted in 2018. They came to the United States to study at the University of Michigan in 2020. Natives of Shanghai and Siberia, they now live in Philadelphia.
