About the channel
You don’t need elite fitness or expensive gear to find peace in the mountains — you just need a trail buddy. I’m Ricky, and this is Moose, my trail-loving English Springer Spaniel. Together we explore the Colorado backcountry through backpacking, fastpacking, ultralight gear testing, winter cabin trips, and honest stories about what the wilderness teaches us. Your Trail Buddy is for everyday people who crave fresh air, quiet moments, and the strength that comes from stepping away from the noise of life. Adventure here isn’t about speed or distance — it’s about clarity, confidence, and the mental reset nature gives us. You’ll find ultralight gear reviews, cozy winter camping, mountain man stories, outdoor lessons, mental health insights, dog-friendly camping adventures, and the occasional beginner-friendly trail run. If you’re new to backpacking or rediscovering the joy of being outside, this is your place. Breathe deeper. Walk slower. Adventure simply. Welcome to Your Trail Buddy
