About the channel
Welcome to the PLANETARY BOUNDARIES SCIENCE Channel from the Planetary Boundaries Science Lab at PIK Potsdam (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research). Earths systems provide three key functions for life on Earth: life support, stability and the ability to absorb and recover from impacts known as resilience. In order for the systems to remain as healthy as possible we have to be careful that the changes we make don’t cause long term damage or weaken these systems by going past key boundaries: These are called the Planetary boundaries and they are: Climate Change, Biosphere Integrity, Land System Change, Freshwater Use, Biogeochemical Flows, Novel Entities, Aerosols, Ozone, and Ocean Acidification. Find out more: https://www.planetaryhealthcheck.org/ and https://www.pik-potsdam.de/en/institute/labs/pbscience Subscribe for more upcoming videos with contributions from key scientists including earth science experiments you can try and why the boundaries matter to us all.
