Posey Royale is a joyous, tightly-arranged swing ensemble from Asheville, North Carolina. We delight in re-imagining musical constellations from the swing era. Our sound is a polite nod to the clever voices who helmed the piano-driven bands of the 1930’s-40’s. Each of our arrangements is lovingly transcribed by hand (and ear) in order to stay true to the historic traditions, cadences, and vocabulary of their founding jazz era. Posey Royale features the fierce improvisational interplay of a small-combo swing ensemble that blooms into the intricate harmony of an orchestra — all in a clever package that’s designed to delight dancers and listeners alike.
